Fans of Persian hip-hop often look back with nostalgia on the era when Hichkas, often considered the “Godfather of Persian Rap,” was at his peak. Hichkas, whose real name is Soroush Lashkari, pioneered Persian rap by blending poetic Persian language with gritty urban themes. Along with collaborators like Reveal, who was integral in introducing Persian rap to a wider audience, Hichkas helped create a sound that was revolutionary for Iranians both in Iran and the diaspora. His influence extended beyond music, inspiring a movement around social issues that were often taboo or unspoken in mainstream Iranian culture.

The concert in Malaysia on May 14, 2010, was especially iconic, marking one of the few times Hichkas and Reveal performed together on such a scale. For fans, this show was more than just a concert; it was a powerful moment of community and connection through music that defied borders. The Malaysia performance united Persian hip-hop fans who resonated with the duo’s music, which spoke directly to their experiences and struggles.
