Farzad Ghadimi and Saeed Dehghan drop ‘Rasmi’, no skip
I first encountered Farzad Ghadimi nearly three years ago, when his debut single Shelik burst forth like a sudden spark in the dark. That track wasn’t merely a promising start—it was a declaration. From the opening bars, it was clear that a distinctive new voice had emerged in Persian rap, one that refused to be…
“In Iran They Call Me English and in England They Ask Me Where I’m From”: Navigating Identity and Belonging in Bea Dero’s Bound by Two Homes
What does it mean to belong to two places, yet fully to neither? For many growing up in the diaspora, this sense of in-betweenness—a constant balancing act between identities, languages and cultures—is part of everyday life. “In Iran they call me English and in England they ask me where I’m from,” says British-Iranian artist Bea…

Reza Pishro Sold His Viral Meme Video, “Any Problem?!” As An NFT

The evolution of humor in Iranian society has taken a fascinating turn in recent years. From simple SMS jokes among friends, we’ve entered a new era of online comedy on platforms like Facebook, X (Twitter), Telegram, Instagram, etc. What we witness today is perhaps the most bizarre and exhilarating phase yet, marked by a unique style of humor production that distinguishes it from previous generations.

Earlier this year, Reza Pishro decided to auction off his controversial and viral meme, “Moshkel Dari?!” (Any Problems? We’re working hard here), as an NFT, starting with a bid of 1.1 Ethereum. The NFT’s title references the most memorable part of the video, where Pishro confronts those leaving offensive comments on his posts. The meme eventually sold for 2.4442 Ethereum. Notably, Sadegh Vahedi, who collaborated with Pishro on the songs “Kalameye Oboor” and “Rockstar,” made a bid for the NFT, and Hichkas also showed his support on his X page.
