Vaqar, the eponymous womenswear brand founded by sisters Shiva and Shirin Vaqar, opened a pop-up this week at Maghaaze—the store at Tehran’s Argo Factory which reopened in 2020 as a cultural centre and contemporary arts museum, having previously been a 1920s beer brewery.

Inside the pop-up at Maghaaze, visitors can explore and purchase from Vaqar’s most recent collection named Jila, the brand’s first since 2021. From robed coats to tops with exaggerated and puffed-out sleeves, the brand continues to make a name for themselves both at home and abroad—having previously been shortlisted for the LVMH Prize twice and sported by the likes of Naomi Campbell. By reinterpreting traditional Iranian attire, the sisters have succeeded again in creating clothing that is “paradoxical in nature and minimally opulent”.

The pop-up runs Sunday to Thursday at Argo Factory: Maghaaze in Tehran.
